<p>We were introduced to Barbara Lebled by her father Laurent, who we've been working with since the 2013 <span class="zalup"><span><glossary title="1109">vintage</glossary><span>.</span></span></span> In 2019, Laurent was able to purchase 10 <glossary title="523">hectares</glossary> of vines and a <glossary title="254">cellar</glossary> from a retiring <glossary title="1089">vigneron</glossary> in the same proximity to the <glossary title="890">Saint-Aignan</glossary> vines he'd been working historically. Compared to the logistically complicated past of living in <span class="zalup"><span><glossary title="919">Saumur</glossary><span>,</span></span></span> working vines principally in <glossary title="890">Saint-Aignan</glossary> and running a <glossary title="254">cellar</glossary> over an hour away in <glossary title="931">Savigny-en-Véron</glossary> (<glossary title="288">Chinon</glossary>), Laurent and his wife Sonya now live in Châtillon-sur-Cher, a 12 minute drive to the vineyards, making life a lot easier. </p>
<p>But it also meant a huge jump in land ownership, one Laurent could not handle alone. It just so happened that his oldest daughter Barbara had caught the wine bug and was finisihing her professional studies. So Laurent proposed that if Laura were willing to work the entirety of the <glossary title="427">estate</glossary> with him, she could use 2.5 <glossary title="523">hectares</glossary> of vines to launch her own project. </p>
<p>She accepted and 2019 marks her first <span class="zalup"><span><glossary title="1109">vintage</glossary><span>.</span></span></span> Her first release is a <glossary title="478">Gamay</glossary> called "Gamay Sans Toi". Unlike her father, Barbara has chosen to do a traditional <glossary title="610">maceration</glossary> intsead of a <glossary title="236">carbonic</glossary> one, making for a more structured affair. Like her father, the wine is intentionally <glossary title="300">declassified</glossary> from <glossary title="1036">Touraine</glossary> to <glossary title="1092">Vin de France </glossary>and <glossary term="Bottling" title="185">bottled</glossary> <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Fining" title="449">unfined</glossary><span>,</span></span></span> <glossary term="Filtration" title="447">unfiltered</glossary> and without the addition of <span class="zalup"><span><glossary term="Sulfites" title="993">S02</glossary><span>.</span></span></span> </p>
